Beyond the Trial is a collection of three fictional stories: ‘Erased Reproach, Rude Awakening, and Shadows from the Past.’ It tells the story of three African women who faced several challenges in their lives—unwanted pregnancy, early widowhood, domestic abuse, and rejection. They chose to turn their setbacks into stepping stones and their trials into testimonies. They exhibited strength of character, resilience, and a determination to succeed in spite of all the odds they faced. It is a must-read for teenagers, young adults, teachers, parents, and grandparents. It is highly educative and entertaining with crucial moral values highlighted. Join Funke, Nkechi, and Ada as they wade through their individual trials to find love, reconciliation, forgiveness, restoration, and lasting peace. There should be a copy in every home! SUMMARY 1: ERASED REPROACH [PAGE 3] 👇👇💜❣️
They each focus on the experiences of a Nigerian woman, although they all have different upbringings and (difficult) life experiences.
The first was made pregnant as a teenager and had to run away to her grandmother's house to keep her child.
The second had her husband die in a driving accident and to have his family steal almost all of his belongings.
And the third, now living in Wales, UK, returns to her family village due to a family crisis.
Returning home brings back many painful memories and pushes her to confront and resolve many difficult family issues.
What I really like about these stories is having the opportunity to dive into the lives of these women that come from a culture, so very different from my own.
The only criticism that I have is that some of the elements are a little 'naive'; people seem to have university educations, even up to doctorate level, as normal, and acceptance and forgiveness seems to happen in many occurrences, without any clear explanation.
However, all in all an excellent read and introduction to a very foreign world.
SUMMARY 2: RUDE AWAKENING [PAGE 89] 👇👇❣️✅
summarized by 7hubent.com blog
Nkechi Emecheta woke up on that fatetul Saturday morning
in August feeling happy. Life was good. Her children were on holiday. Afam, her husband, had finally agreed to take some time off work and had been granted a two-week leave. They were to travel via Virgin Atlantic the next weekend to the United Kingdom for a long overdue family vacation. Atam had booked a holiday apartment in Burleigh
Court in the quiet university town of Loughborough in
Leicestershire. She was looking forward to spending quality
time with Afam devoid of his busy work schedule. She had gotten him to agree to travel without paperwork from the
office but on the issue of leaving his laptop behind, she'd met a huge brick wall.
Oh well, she thought, "I can't win on every count.
she was looking forward to taking the children on a day to London to visit the London Eye, Madam Tussauds,

Afam had laughed When she mentioned Harrods. Funke's mother warned her not to trust anyone of the male gender, but being a naive teenager she decided to listen to her friends. Dire consequences ensue, setting her on a collision course of life. Raising her son with the help of her grandmother she learns to trust and let her heart be loved again. Will she let her past go so she can have a future?
Tragedy ensues on a trip to visit relatives. Nketchi suddenly finds herself a widow with two small children and blood sucking relatives who care for nothing but the valuable belongings of her late husband. After a call from her mother in law, she comes to visit, and finds out what life was like after she had left. Would she learn to forgive her in laws for all the injustices that they had done to her?
With the fabric of her family torn irrevocably, she had to learn to stand up for herself. With an abusive father and uncle, she had to stand strong, and be the parent to both her younger siblings. Learning to trust another man is difficult but she soon falls for her husband, Richard. Visiting family for the holidays, she finds out that the repercussions of their abuse as children, the marriages of her siblings were on the rocks. Can she help resolve the issues or will her family be broken forever?
SUMMARY 3: SHADOWS FROM THE PAST [PAGE 123] 👇👇❣️😊END
SHADOWS FROM THE PAST

Nothing changes what already happened.
It will always have happened.
You either let it break you down, or you don't. Charles Frazier
In Beyond the Trial are stories about suffering and injustice, but more importantly, they are stories about triumph. The author gives the prescriptions for replicating these triumphs in the reader’s life mostly through sage, conversational dialogue. And, Mbadugha’s wisdom is like the wisdom of a mother—gentle and running deep, and delivered in simple language.
summarized by 7hubent.com blog
If it may be summarized, Mbadugha wants women to pick their battles carefully (each of the women concentrates her energies on developing herself rather than fighting the architects of her troubles);
summarized by 7hubent.com blog
she wants them to select their allies carefully (Funke has Grandma Akande, Nkechi has her best friend Uzoma, and Ada’s husband is her fortress); and lastly, she wants them to stay the course (eventually time heals the wounds of all three women).
This book is peppered with so much good advice at the turn of every page, and it will make many a woman (or man) wiser to have read it.
It was five clock in the evening yet everywhere was already pitch dark, as though the time was at least 10 p.m.
