Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” Martin Luther King Jr.
As a proponet and Nigerian youth, it could be garnered that the bedeviling issues that Nigeria government has failed to address didn't just start today, since Nigeria gained independence or let me narrow it down to 1999, when the country started practicing democratic system of government the citizenry expected more of a better Nigeria than the former, little do the citizenry know that the current is full of "crocodile smile"
May I inform the Nigeria government that the ongoing protest has gone beyond #EndSARS! It is imperative for them to know that #ENDSARSNOW is just "a slogan" in driving the governed demands to the government, we have our agenda which we ought to have been enjoying long ago but due to our courtesy for constituted authorities we gave them so enough a long rope to draw; a long rope enough to draw to the extent that the president of Nigeria called Nigerian youths "lazy". Now we are come to demonstrate our laziness to Mr president, Muhammad Buhari. The people have now risen to the occasion and total overhauling of Nigeria system, sector is what we clamour for. "Our mumu don do!" We want on our agenda:
1. Good standard of living: The government own us everything we request, as for this reason, we gave them our mandate. When good standard of living is mentioned, we talk of;
1a. Good Road Networking: If the country's roads are good enough: (i) There would not be traffic jam (ii) The opulent needn't take aircraft at every kilometer of their travel
(iii) Road mishap will reduce drastically, for our roads won't be death traps anymore (iv)The case of robbery on highway will be far forgotten, how? Most of these robbers take advantage of people where there are deadly potholes because vehicles can't move freely and speedily there.
1b. Good infrastructure: It is quite appalling that most of the infrastructures we have are the ones built immediately after independence, all we see if an infrastructural project is given out, it ends halfway due to embezzlement or inability to be successful in the project( giving incompetent hands). The money earmark for each project sometimes are shared as national cakes amongst elites at the top, projects become abandoned; many a times turn white elephant projects
1c. Good healthcare service: As leaders have you ever thought of the reasons you can't entrust your health care issues in the hands of people in the health services sector? I know you would have, the major thing is that you've failed to address the bad issues bedeviling the health services that is why you're always flown overseas to get treated. It's a shame!; a big one indeed for a leader in an independent country to go outside his own sovereign country to receive treatment for every slightest sickness it shows how badly dependent the country is to the westerners, how powerful their influence can be on us, and how badly the country has been put in place by the so called leaders
2. Handsome salary pay: The people in this part of the blackman continent(Nigeria) are the ones working for the government while the government receives handsomely the people working tirelessly receive little or nothing, reverse should be the case of this reality.
3. Education: Education is said to be the best legacy also it's said to be the last hope of the common man again it was referred to as the key to success. Has this key not long ago been thrown into the river? As connections and man knows man brought in incompetent hands in place of the best hands? All of these I leave you to your conscience for to answer. During Pa. Obafemi Awolowo's time you all enjoyed free education attain political heights at your early-late 20s and 30s because you had it at your finger tips but now you've turned the right to privilege. It is absolutely inhumane act! Affordability is what we want in our educational sector as enjoyed by you all. And stop putting incompetent hands where they aren't fitted. Our leaders should unlearn the bad aspect of their educations, get educated, and be reeducated.
4. Electricity: A country that celebrated 60 years of independence eighteen days ago shouldn't still be crawling to get 40,000MW what the whole of Nigeria is using as mega watts is what companies are using in other parts of the world, just three days ago I saw it on paper been counted as achievements that Nigeria mega watts as increased to 7,000MW. What an absurdity! What a ridicule!. Do they take us a joke? "Our mumu don do" EndSARS!
5. Insecurity: This has been the eye opener, pivotal drive of our demands. It is not a discussion any longer that insecurity in Nigeria is a menace to lives and property this as geared the youths of this nation to speak in one voice and in one accord to the bone of contention "EndSARS"! From Bokoharam, to Fulani herdsmen to Kidnappers to Cultism all of them are SARS end them now! NigerianLivesMatter. End security threats and menace
Though we still have lots more like poor housing, bad water, exorbitant tarrifs and many more but with the little highlights above if the government can begin to tackle them one after each, that is, the five (5) agendas stated above then we can back down on the protest. We need actions not scamming round table discussions
Conclusively, Buhari and his cabals have been "bad boys" but they can make themselves good even better boys because in a saner clime the president would have resigned with all these happenings, but if he doesn't he should make a POSITIVE TRANSFORMATION
